About the Trust

History, mission and philosophy

“Education is a human right with immense power to transform.”

— Kofi Annan

Seva Sadan was founded in 1950 by the visionary philanthropist Late Shri Parsram Parumal Dabrai with the mission to provide quality education to Sindhi migrants who arrived in India after the partition.

With the philosophy of simple living and high thinking, he dedicated his life to the upliftment of underprivileged communities and refugees who settled in rehabilitation camps across India.

Early Initiatives

In 1957, he established New Era High School, which later became a fully recognized institution. Due to his selfless service and humble lifestyle, he was affectionately known as “Babaji.”

To empower women, he started Ladies Tailoring Classes (Nari Shala) at his residence “Parvati Niwas” in Wadala, Mumbai. These classes were open to all communities and provided free training in tailoring, enabling thousands of women to become financially independent.

Many women received Government Tailoring Diploma certificates, and sewing machines were distributed free of cost to economically backward learners.

Expansion in Higher Education

Recognizing the lack of colleges in Ulhasnagar—especially for girls—Babaji established a girls’ college which later became Ramchand Kimatram Talreja College of Arts, Science & Commerce with support from philanthropist Shri Jhamnadas Talreja. Today, the college serves 9,000+ students, providing quality higher education in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams.

Teacher Education & Excellence

Understanding the importance of trained educators, he founded Seva Sadan College of Education in Ulhasnagar, offering programs from D.Ed to Ph.D. The institution is:

  • NAAC A accredited
  • Affiliated with University of Mumbai
  • Recognized as one of the best colleges in Mumbai
  • Thousands of teachers have been trained through this institution
Present Day

Today, Seva Sadan operates institutions from Pre-Primary to Post-Graduation, serving over 14,000 students with a dedicated team of 500+ staff members, including teachers, faculty, PhD guides, and volunteers.
